The Renovation Initiative

Financial Support for the Robert Louis Stevenson School

The generous financial support that Stevenson receives each year from parents, friends and alumni helps sustain it at the forefront of therapeutic college-preparatory schools. Stevenson relies on tuition income, and a strong Giving Fund to maintain its place at the forefront of education. Gifts to the School enhance existing programs, enrich curriculum and help improve the facilities. The outpouring of giving in 2007 allowed the school to purchase its enduring home at 24 West 74th Street.

Support for the school enables us to offer opportunities and acquire materials outside the operating budget, which provide enrichment for both students and teachers. Contributions have an immediate and positive impact on the educational experience of students. Your gift is vital to keeping our programs strong and current with the best practices in education. Contributions to the Renovation Initiative will be directed to transforming our library into a 21st century multi-media learning and conference center.

Campaign for Stevenson – Multi-media Learning and Conference Center

Stevenson’s leadership has understood the necessity of bringing the school’s physical space up to 21st century standards since the building was acquired in 2007. The school engaged Ashbahian Design, LLC to develop a concept and Master Plan for transforming the physical environment. A careful study of the School’s needs produced a long-term plan for development that maximizes the use of the building space while enhancing its functionality and beauty. The guiding idea of the Master Plan was bringing under-utilized space into productive use, strengthening the program with classrooms that are optimized for size and function, exemplifying the school’s culture and purpose, and fostering a sense of community.

The first phase of the plan calls for transforming the library into a state-of-the-art multi-media learning and conference center. This modernization, in terms of design, construction and equipment will serve and support the academic program and meet the needs of students, both now and in the future. In addition to increasing functionality, the lovely existing architectural qualities of the room will be enhanced.  Please visit  http://www.stevensonlibrary.com for more information on the project.
